Seagate STBC2000200 2TB GoFlex Desk for Mac FireWire800/USB 2.0 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive

Seagate STBC2000200 2TB GoFlex Desk for Mac FireWire800/USB 2.0 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive

Daisychainable FireWire hard drive (with Thunderbolt potential)
This is a very sleek and cleverly engineered device. It is unfortunate that that optional module to upgrade to Thunderbolt is prohibitively expensive. (At least the technological infrastructure is there to make this possible for when prices go down. The base or 'foot' is removable and can be swapped)

I have used it with FireWire 800 and have found it very satisfactory. There are two FireWire ports so it can be daisychained.

Unfortunately, it does require its own power source and must be connected to the electricity.

It comes preformatted for Mac.

In the box, you get a 5 foot FireWire 800 cable and a 5 foot USB 2 cable. (It makes it a refreshing change to have cables of ample length included in the box. Thank you, Seagate)

Seaget GoFlex Desk for Mac
The GoFlex Desk for Mac is a 3Tb external hard drive pre formatted for use with the MAC operating systems. What makes this unit a little special is that with the installation of a small piece of software available as a free download from the Seagate web site, the unit can also be made to read and write from a PC, this makes it ideal for anyone who may want to transfer data between the two formats.

On unpacking the unit I was immediately impressed with the build quality of the housing. Very sturdy, it comes with a rubbery feel which helps prevent finger marks on the casing, unlike the current crop of 'piano gloss' housings. This is set of with smart silver trim along the top and front. As the unit is designed to stand vertically the overall effect is akin to a hard-backed book.

At the rear of the base are sockets for power and firewire, while at the side is a further firewire socket along with a mini-USB socket. It should be noted that the firewire sockets are the...

SanDisk MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader - Retail Pack

SanDisk MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader - Retail Pack

Great little reader
Well my first thoughts when opening the package from Amazon were "Wow! It's tiny". Thankfully you get an attachment to stick it onto a key-ring else it would be very easy to lose :)

First tried the reader with a 4GB MicroSDHC card (also made by Sandisk), which fit into the reader very well. There was a nice "click" to it as the card slot into place.

The M2 cards don't fit quite as well. Due to the size of the card they slightly over-hang the end of the reader (as shown in the photo's at the top of the product page).

Both reading and writing to cards using the reader were very quick.

Overall I'm very impressed with the reader, and you can't really miss out when it's also so cheap.

SanDisk MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader - Retail Pack

Perfect - Highly Recommended.
I cannot rate this card reader highly enough. I've bought 4 in the last year; one is always in my phone case, one in the desk at work, one at home and one for my partner to use with her digital camera.

Couldn't be any smaller, very well made and tough too. Works a treat, timed it against one of those larger `61-in-1' type card readers and this micro marvel was 20 times faster at data transfer.

Works perfectly with the MicroSD card from my phone/PDA - means i can transfer data to any PC with this device alone, no longer need leads or special software.

SanDisk MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader - Retail Pack

Brilliant
It really is tiny! But a brilliant little card reader, comfortably taking both M2 and micro SD, and with a quick transfer rate. Highly recommended.

Creative Labs 70SB109500002 Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 PRO Sound Card

An amazing bit of kit!
Just to give you an idea, I am running a 2.80Ghz Dual Core on 4GB DDR3 and Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

This device is really easy to install. It does help if you download the Soundblaster drivers from their website (related to the X-FI Pro of course), else youll get imbecilles morons writing negative reviews on here complaining about the poor sound quality!

Just plug to the an available USB port on your Laptop. Theres no need to disable your previous soundcard settings (unless you really want to), because once X-FI is plugged out of the USB & no longer to use, you can easily revert back to your built-in soundcard settings.

The XFI Pro is miles better than my legacy soundcard/chip inside my laptop. Great for audio editing (e.g. on Wavelab, or Adobe Audition), and playback. Im so pleased to have the "What U Hear" functionality back again! Sound quality is exceptional. Creative Labs has never let me down (expept once in 1999, when their Soundblaster...

If your sub does not work - You need to enable it under THX menu
Set-up:
Initial software set-up a doddle. had to download latest version from internet.
Next I set up my speaker system.
To check I had plugged everything in correctly, I used the noise test, and got a confirming noise from each speaker and a rumble out of my sub.

Problem:
Next I played a music file, and the sub was not doing anything.

Fix:
Click in Creative studio Entertainment Console on the Third blue button "THX".
When THX TruStudio is on , goto Settings at the left top.
This shows a crossover frequency slide.
Adjust this to your liking.

Sorted!

would be great if it worked!
great looking bit of kit. the sound is far superior than my onboard soundcard.
only problem is that the latency on this device is awful! ive tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps, drivers, bios tweaks and still no luck. bought the card for recording guitar, vocals etc so its completely useless in this respect. beware if using windows 7 operating system as it seems that plenty of other people have the same problem.
its a shame because as i mentioned before the actual sound is great.

They are simple to use for transfering files etc.

SanDisk 32GB Cruzer Switch Flash Drive - FFP

Big storage, good price
Tiny, only 4cm, USB 2.0 flash drive with nice integrated cover that flips over and keeps it clean. It's not the fastest flash at around 4Mb/Sec but at 32Gb is massive amounts of storage. Mine is formatted to NTFS as I am transferring large (over 4Gb) files. I keep mine in the bottom of my work bag. Price / performance + usability = 5 stars

2.5 Sata To Usb Hard Drive Caddy Hdd Case Enclosure

does the job well
not quite sure what the previous reviewer was expecting,as the price is as cheap as it gets, and it does the job very well, the casework is anodised aluminium,i.e bombproof, with black plastic end pieces, like many enclosures of this type, but it has a robust full size usb plug instead of the mini a plug such as lets down the otherwise excellent iomega drive enclosures,3 of which i have replaced with these due to the mini usb socket stopping working. the unit comes with a faux leather case, cable and mini screwdriver to secure the end cap screws which are in a small plastic bag in the case. I have found no issues so far and feel no need to look elsewhere, does the job well, and delivery was prompt, what more do you need.

2.5 Sata To Usb Hard Drive Caddy Hdd Case Enclosure

Does the job
As the title says, it does the job. I actually only bought it because it's the cheapest way of getting an SATA-USB bridge to add more options to a rack-mount system i've got going. The metal bit of the casing's robust enough, but the actual plastic of the ends looks and feels very tacky, and it was marked in places. It works, and aesthetics aren't at all important for me, and that's pretty much it. Cheap and cheerful sums it up!

2.5 Sata To Usb Hard Drive Caddy Hdd Case Enclosure

Sturdy & cheap
Can't get better at this ludicrously low price. Decent aluminium case with ultra easy installation. Even comes with a screwdriver!

Seagate ST9500420AS, 500GB Mobile SATA Momentus, 7200RPM 16MB Cache

Fast but noisy/vibrating
I upgraded the 320MB 5400rpm Hitachi HTS543232L9SA02 drive to the 500GB Seagate Momentus ST9500420AS in my Macbook Pro (2.66GHz Core 2 Duo). Technically it works really well, no hiccups with the installation, no heat issues even when working hard, and the system feels more nippy (I use things like Photoshop, VMware Fusion etc.).

"xbench" (a free Max benchmarking utility) now reports a "Disk Test" score of 52.6 (vs. 33.7 for the 5400rpm drive). Sample xbench results show a much better performance increase than expected:

Sequential
Uncached Write 256 MB blocks: 78 MB/s (vs. 40 MB/s for the 5400rpm drive)
Uncached Read 256 MB blocks: 80.6 MB/s (vs. 41.1 MB/s for the 5400rpm drive)

Random
Uncached Write 256 MB blocks: 52 MB/s (vs. 20.7 MB/s for the 5400rpm drive)
Uncached Read 256 MB blocks: 26.2 MB/s (vs. 13.2 MB/s for the 5400rpm drive)

Unfortunately the drive is a bit more noisy than the Hitachi, the normal "disk spin"...

Seagate ST9500420AS, 500GB Mobile SATA Momentus, 7200RPM 16MB Cache

Big notebook drives
It's hard to see past the value of this 500GB 2.5" notebook hard drive. I still find it amazing the way storage space doubles - the drive replaces a non-functional 250GB 5400rpm Western Digital unit that was original OEM equipment. The difference in speed between a 5400rpm and 7200rpm drive is easily noticeable during boot, with Windows 7 Professional starting to a login prompt in less than 25 seconds on my system. However, once things are up and running and in everyday use scenarios, the benefits are more marginal. I'm sure this is partly due to the built-in flash cache module on my Dell XPS M1330 notebook (aka Windows ReadyBoost/ReadyDrive/SuperFetch), and party because the seek to seek times don't really improve with a higher spindle RPM.

Suummary:-

Excellent drive, backed by Seagate's rock-solid reliability and performance. No noticeable increase in noise over a 5400rpm drive, and with Vista/Windows 7 hybrid disk power savings I'd say the battery life is more...

Seagate ST9500420AS, 500GB Mobile SATA Momentus, 7200RPM 16MB Cache

MacBook
Easy to install and just a couple of minutes to format.
Used Time Machine to load on a full clone of the original drive which took a couple of hours.
No problems at all - no vibrations, no more heat than the original.
Probably the best

Toshiba PA4284E-1HJ0 1TB Stor.E Partner USB 3.0 2.5 Inch External Hard Drive - Orange

A good buy, I highly recommend it !!!
This is a very nice 500gb drive, perfect for all you home data needs and requirements, to give you an idea of what 500gb's of data represents you are looking at 131,000 songs or 142,000 photos or 410 video clips. For most home applications filling it would be a challenge.

The box is small but informative, giving you all the information required :
The drive is USB3.0 but also backwards compatible with USB2.0, using a fast USB3.0 connection you can get transfer speeds of up to 5.0 Gbps. The drive does come pre loaded with NERO backItUp & Burn software but I haven't tried it yet so can't vouch for its ease of use (having said that I have heard lots of good things about NERO).

Out of the box the contents are simple :
The drive is finished beautifully, feels robust and well built and a perfect complement to my Toshiba NB500 Netbook. It has a little LED light which indicates power and data transfer. It is small and compact at 12cm long, 8cm wide and 1.4cm...

This is a great little hard drive. It is very small, compact and nice to look at as opposed to some of the larger ones out there. I was backing up my data within minutes of receiving it through the post, no installation needed. I expect no issue with it as Toshiba is a good brand. Not a lot to say about a hard drive really... The price is what makes it worth it
I had two good reasons for buying an external DVD unit. The internal optical drive on my Sony laptop became unreliable and eventually stopped working despite there being plenty of life left in the laptop. Secondly, I had my eye on an ultrabook as a replacement and it doesn't have an optical drive.

Initially, I was after a top-loader. I couldn't see why an external unit should come with a motorised drawer - something unnecessary, and something to go wrong. But as all the top-loaders I browsed had poor recommendations, I settled on this mainly for the price (

Memory Card Reader Mini SD MMC Mobile SDHC M2 TF XD CF

Be careful not to inhale it...
Like the previous reviewer I was taken aback by the tiny dimensions of this unit. The reason I knocked off one star is because you have to be quite accurate when putting cards into it. Not because it will break any pins, but because you need to get it angled just right to get the memory card in smoothly - in my case a standard size SD.
If you are a bit ham-fisted or have trouble with fine motor skills then you should look for a larger more forgiving unit.
The one I received was also black and had that nice 'rubberised' feel we see so often on gadgets these days.

Worked with Vista x64 (SP1) AND my Intel Mac (Leopard - 10.5.6) out of the box, no problems! No driver install needed. Note: the Mac will stay silent until you insert a memory card, whereas Windows will show a 'phantom' drive until you insert a memory card.

island-express got it to me in a single day!! - your milage may vary, but probably because of Royal-Snail rather than island-express...

truly awesome

it wouldnt install drivers at first but i unplugged another mass storage device and they installed ok then.
i then went to copy 500 plus pictures onto the card and it took about 5 seconds so i'm very pleased with this and highly recommend it to anyone.

Seagate STBA1000200 1TB GoFlex Edition for Mac FireWire800/USB 2.0 2.5 Inch Portable Hard Drive - Silver

Flexibility comes at a price
The Seagate GoFlex system is an interesting one. This is the STBA1000200; inside the box you will find a small 1Tb hard drive in a nice travel resistant case. Unlike other devices the GoFlex comes with two adaptor cables that connect into the drives rather than using a USB or a firewire cable. These hava SATA connectors that plug into the disk and the traditional wires that connect to your computer.

In the Mac edition here you get two connectors; a USB2 and Firewire 800 adaptor; you can buy newer connectors separately a reasonably priced USB3 or the very expensive Thunderbolt adaptor. This means you can buy a disk today that is as fast as your computer can manage; and so long as Seagate keep releasing new cables upgrade it with your computer later; for now with USB3 and Thunderbolt; all the latest leads are supported. Seagate STBA1000200 1TB GoFlex Edition for Mac FireWire800/USB 2.0 2.5 Inch Portable Hard Drive - Silver

Perfect storage for Video Editors
I use a mac to edit videos, and it's very easy for the hard drive to get eaten up by data, particularly HD content. Experts advise against using the same drive for operating system and video files, but a USB connection is too slow to make video editing worthwhile. This drive, with its Firewire800 is perfect for this requirement. Plug and Play, and Final Cut finds it automatically.

This has become a lifesaver as I can now store all my projects on this drive, and let the mac do what it does best.

Seagate STBA1000200 1TB GoFlex Edition for Mac FireWire800/USB 2.0 2.5 Inch Portable Hard Drive - Silver

cool piece of kit
The 1 TB hard disk comes in a good-looking brushed silver case, with a weighty feel in the palm of your hand which gives a comforting feel of quality. The main disk comes with 2 connectors, one for USB and one firewire so it should be compatible with practically any computer. It was recognised immediately by my Mac, but although windows loaded the device driver and it was registered as a USB device it did not appear in explorer. This could probably be fixed with a little effort.

In all a very useful storage addition to your system. The best feature is that it's powered by the USB or firewire interface, so you don't have to lug around an adapter and find a power outlet to use it; slip it in your pocket and away you go.

excellent sexy USB stick but it's 100% compatible with all laptops
I bought this stick some months ago and am delighted with it.
It is sleek and small. However, I have discover when lending the stick to friends that not all USB ports will see the stick in fact it only works in 2 of my 3 ports on my new alienware netbook in battery mode.
So to sum up, I love this stick but for absolute reliability it might be necessary to look elsewhere as when lending to friends it can be unreliable. I accept that it is probably a power drain problem where older mother boards suppling lower 5v from their ports and also when netbooks are running on a power saving mode but be aware. I have had no issues on desktop PCs yet after 6 months.

Seagate STBX1000200 1TB Expansion 2.5 inch External Hard Drive

Impressive!
I was set to rant about the decision by Seagate to use a proprietary data cable, but it turns out this is what a USB 3.0 cable looks like. If you still have USB 2.0 ports, don't panic, the drive is backwards compatible, but you won't see the speed increase.

After a painless registration process you're given the opportunity to install Seagate's drive management software and Memeo backup. I'd rather not install unnecessary software, preferring to use the built-in Windows Back-up software as required, so I can't really comment on the quality of Memeo.

In theory USB 3.0 allows for data transfer speeds 10x faster than 2.0, but in practise you're going to be limited by the speed of the drive in the enclosure and that will probably be the case for some time to come, certainly until external SSD drives become more common.

In reality I'd estimate a real world speed increase of about 3x compared to a comparable USB 2.0 drive of similar size. That's definitely...

HGST Touro Desk DX3 4TB External Hard Drive - Black

Best drive I've owned
This is an excellent drive and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros:
Small-medium sized and very neat looking
Fast - another reviewer complained about the PRO version being slow. I don't understand this, if you connect it using the cable provided to a usb 3.0 port it transfers at around 125 mb/s. It makes moving around the movie collection effortless.
Quiet - I was very surprised at how quiet it runs. It doesn't seem to overheat at all and whatever fans operate inside it are silent.

Cons:
When you disconnect it using Windows, the light on the drive stays on so I'm not fully sure if it has powered down completely.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the DX3 version and PRO version, but they must be trivial.

HGST Touro Desk DX3 4TB External Hard Drive - Black

Value for money
First off, lets talk performance. With a 1TB write run of files ranging from 80-400MB and some smaller files scattered throughout, I managed an average of 110MB/s. More than 3 times as fast as USB 2.0 products and a very respectable speed indeed. Read speeds were also in the same region. I used TeraCopy which allowed for file verification and am happy to say that not a single file suffered any errors.

The lack of fans may be disconcerting to some users, but this is a 5k RPM drive in a enclosure which gives plenty of breathing room for the drive to benefit from passive cooling and I didn't find heat to be an issue during my testing. Fans can sometimes be WORSE for an enclosure in my opinion, I have had an enclosure which had a fan vibrating abnormally but silently and I didn't know till one of the drives failed (presumably from the vibration, because I had multiple drives of the same make in other enclosures which were ok). And in certain weather conditions, a drive that is...

If you need the space - this is the one to get. I've bought two of these. Tried them on USB2 and 3. Worked fine in USB2 mode, USB3 they fly, a good 95MB/s thats megabytes not bits! I did this as it was cheaper to buy the external drives rather than the internal ones.

Small, compact and sleek. A welcome utility to make my life easier. I bought it for evaluating new software in a virtual machine. So far so good.

A nice little portable hard drive
No complaints about this new Seagate drive. I went for the USB 3.0 version even though none of my PCs yet have this capability. They all will in the next few years, so this version ensures a longer useful life. Set up is very easy and it's nicely designed and pretty portable provided that you don't want something to carry around in a jacket - it's fine for a laptop case.

SanDisk Connect 16GB Wireless USB Flash Drive

29.7GB of storage but limited video format compabitility
As with most storage devices, the quoted amount of storage isn't quite what you get. Only 29.7GB of the 32GB is available for storage.

That's not a major problem. But the limited video formats that it's compatible with IS more of a limitation.

INSTALLATION
Simply plug the SanDisk Connect into your computer's USB port and you can drag and drop music, photos and videos to the SanDisk's flash drive. The flash drive writes quite slowly at around 4MB/second, so transferring say a 1GB movie can take 3 or 4 minutes.

On my Android tablet, I also installed the SanDisk Wireless Flash app from the Google Play store. This was very straightforward.

When your SanDisk Connect is fully charged (2 hours, the instruction leaflet says), you simply unplug it from your computer and press the power button for a few seconds. You then select the SanDisk wireless network on your tablet and start up the SanDisk app.

FLASH! Ahhh ahhh! The saviour of the universe!
So, it's a USB Flash Drive, much the same as the traditional 'memory stick' that we all know and love. The difference is that you don't need to plug it in to access it.

Basically, the Flash Drive includes an inbuilt WiFi capability so that you can connect to it wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet. In this way you can read from or write to the drive without the need to plug it in. This is especially useful as most tablets and phones don't come with a standard USB connector and require a special adapter to make the hard connection.

You will need to download a special Sandisc app onto your phone/tablet to facilitate the interface (easily done from the Google Play app store - search for Sandisk WiFi App). After some blundering, whereby I struggled to work out how to use the app, I managed to crack it.

Ideal for extra iPad storage
Like most people I always need more storage on my iPad, mostly for large files such as movies when I'm on the go and don't have access to an internet connection. I've been aware of the larger external hard drives that you can buy that act in the same way as this USB drive but I've always needed something smaller and more pocketable.

As you would expect the USB drive is similar in size to most others, not tiny like some can be but it does house a rechargeable battery. The actual storage is added by means of a microSD card that comes with the USB drive, so I would imagine that if you want even more storage you could simply buy a larger card and add it to the USB drive. Adding content to the USB drive is as simple as plugging it in and dragging and dropping content over, there are folders already created on the drive but you can of course create your own. There's also a few tutorial videos loaded onto the drive to help you get started. When the drive is connected to your...

My Dell Laptop headphone socket has come loose inside & no longer works, although the main speakers still work OK. I looked on the net for a fix and it appears Dell say a new motherboard is needed. I didn't want to pull the laptop apart to try and fix it myself in case I damaged something and made things worse. New Sony Ericsson CCR80 Universal Micro-SD SDHC to USB Mobile Memory Card Reader

New Sony Ericsson CCR80 Universal Micro-SD SDHC to USB Mobile Memory Card Reader

Ridiculously high maximum power rating
Got this free with a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro phone.

This device announces to the thing it plugs into that it requires up to 500mA. In case you don't know, that's the absolute maximum current that USB can supply - it's enough to power things with motors and charge device batteries. A MicroSD card itself needs at most about 100mA. There is no way this device really needs that kind of current draw, it's just sloppy design. I've seen comparable SD adapters declare a max of 250mA.

This will most likely cause no problem if you're plugging this into a traditional PC, but what this means is if you plug it into a USB On-The-Go device like a media player, phone, or tablet it will not work because of its stated unnecessarily high power consumption. So fine for PC only use, but avoid if you want it to 'just work' everywhere.

New Sony Ericsson CCR80 Universal Micro-SD SDHC to USB Mobile Memory Card Reader

Too warm and juicey.
It works well enough but with two caveats. First, and foremost, this device requires a lot of usb juice to run. I tried it in a (Homer Simpsons' USB hub) with a wireless keyboard adapter in situ and just kept getting error ring noises from Win7. Once I removed the k/b adapter Win7 found the device ok and transferred data. Second, it made my usb hub get a bit too toasty for my liking, so I opted to stick it in a lone usb socket to stop the risk of premature aging or cooking the micro memory card.
Win7 has a habit of asking to scan and fix micro cards but it's usually unnecessary and best to opt for the 'continue' and not scan/fix option as Win7 can destroy the structure that is needed by phones/tablets etc. which can be so for formatting too. There is a driver dl available for sdhc etc. cards on the MS website specific to formats for micro cards - assuming you have a genuine MS copy as it requires validation.

Quality Product
When I ordered my new Sony Ericson CCR80 Universal Micro-SD SDHC to USB Mobile Memory Card Reader I was not expecting it to be of the quality it turned out to be.

This is well designed product and feels like a quality product. I was so impressed that I ordered 2 more to have as a spare.

Pikaone Ripcase External CDRW Drive 40x12x48 USB2.0

Plug and play and start burning discs
I never thought that i could get external cd drive for less that 50 quid. So when browsing amazon, i saw this product and read all the reviews i immediately ordered one and have never repented it.

It was a breeze to get it started on Windows 2000. Installing Nero 5.5 that is bundled along with it was equally smooth. And within 5 mintues I was on to burning my first Cd (that comes free) and in 3 minutes i had it burned and done with.

Using USB 2 the burning speed for CD-R is amazing. On CD-RW it takes till longer upto 7-8 minutes. Up till now i have burned 20-25 disks and not had a single coaster.

The drive is small and sleek to look at. The build quality is good and it does not make as much noise as others suggest. But it is not silent either.

Overall a definitely good bargain! Happy burning !!!

Best Value Around
This CD Re-writer was bought for my 15 year old daughter by her big brother. When we got it out of the box I couldn't believe how cute it was although it is a bit "chunky".
My daughter has a 4 year old laptop and only USB1 and windows 98 so needed to install a driver. The ancient cd drive could not load up the CD (this is not unusual) but we obtained a driver very easily from the website and intalled the nero programme as supplied also very easily.
Nero is very easy to use and you can do all sorts with it from just copying your CD's (very useful if you want to keep the originals in good condition) to compiling your own music disks and backing up all your files (we saved all our important files on CD-R when we reformatted our computer)
An added bonus for my daughter is that the Pikaone can be used as a CD drive (much needed as ours is very old and worn out, though it is a bit noisy when starting up) and as a CD player (You have to use headphones or a set of plug-in...

Pikaone Ripcase External CDRW Drive 40x12x48 USB2.0

Great item but...
Pros:
-certainly does it's job!(burns audio discs, data discs, everything!)

-fast(i have USB 1, and it only takes me around 10mins to burn a 700MB disc--it does depend on how fast your disc can handle burning tho...8x, 10x, 40x etc...some of my old discs were 10x, and these took around 14 mins. --if you can handle the slight wait, there's no need to get any pci cards to upgrade to USB2.0).

-simple enough to use.(i am no pro at computers, so thankfully this item led me thru pretty much step by step, so with a bit of logic thrown in, most people shouldn't have a problem with it. However if you are actually 'new' at computers, i will suggest having someone a bit more experienced help you set this up...especially if this is your first time burning.)

-relatively cheap for a good quality product.(i think most people have raved on about it's price in other reviews...)

Cons:
-yes, the cover is flimsy. it tends to snap shut at the slightest touch with the loudest 'CLAP!' and...

Amazing low CPU utilisation
For those of you like me who maintain a Windows Media Center, I 100% recommend this amazing little dongle.
I have used a few DVB-T tuners on my platforms in the past and this one is by far the best.
I run a Acer Revo 3610 and found that with existing tuners, I'd get higher CPU utilisation and with the ATOM that resulted in the occasional frame drop or picture corruption.
This ClimaxDigital dongle changed all that with wonderful and consent picture quality. I didn't think it possible to change the quality of an already encoded digital TV signal.
On the Revo, I got used to slow channel switching and lagging menus when returning from live TV.
All this lagging and slowness has gone with this new dongle.
I had previously blamed the ATOM for such a negative MCE experience but clearly it was more relating to the dongle and driver stack.
So buy this dongle from Climax Digital because it is amazing and was delivered in exceptional packaging within 2...

DTV395 Win7 Review
Rather than use the enclosed driver I got Windows 7 to find the latest drivers. When installed Windows Media Centre promptly recognised the device and in a total of 20 minutes I had both tuners working.
We live in a good DTV reception area so even the enclosed aerial gave 122 available channels.
Good piece of kit.

No problems for me.
A very simple device to set up, allows my Windows 7 machine to record two Freeview channels at once. Picture quality is very good.

Over-all very satisfied.

Freecom 56058 500GB Tough Drive USB 3.0 2.5 Inch External Hard Drive

Well-made drive. Almost perfect.
The drive's main enclosure has a velvety-smooth rubbery-plastic finish, and has a black plastic section at the end which houses the in-built plug lead. There are no power or USB secondary sockets. The lead 'hinges' courtesy of its own flexible material, so I don't feel comfortable bending it too much. So, unless the drive is on your desk next to your PC's USB socket, you're sure to end up needing a USB extension lead. In the lead's closed position, it's held in place firmly by friction and by a magnet that grips the metal USB 'A' plug. The light-blue status LED is solid-ON when nothing's happening, and phases on/off smoothly when there's data transfer. On that front, it's totally silent in operation.
The drive takes 36 seconds to appear on my USB2 laptop, and copying from internal drive via USB2 runs at 14.6 MegaBytes/s (I copied a single 500 MB file). Also, it works fine on my little USB-to-TV media player. I have an older USB1 PC with a USB2 PCI card installed and, on this, the...

There is plenty of space for loads of clicks even with the HD setting in the camera. So far so good and really pleased with the memory stick.

Looks very nice and slim, comes pre formatted in Fat32 and ready to go.

It has a USB cable included but requires two USB ports to power the hard drive which could cause a problem if you don't have these free, especially if your laptop doesn't have two ports close together.

EDIT: I have tried this and it works with one USB cable connected on my Mac Mini but most computers i have tried require 2. Im assuming it depends on the power output of the USB Port.

The metal case doesn't clip down very and can be easily lifted without much force. After some using some electrical tape this problem was resolved.

Stylish but easily lost!
I was delighted when I first received this pen drive around 10 days ago and am incredibly disappointed to find that I've "lost" it so soon! Whilst the design looks very stylish and the quality is good in terms of the operation and connection etc, I noticed that it swung itself open a couple of times. I have just found that I now only have the cap connected to my key ring and the USB section could be anywhere I've been in the last day. Thank goodness I hadn't put any sensitive or confidential information on it. The design could do with having a more secure closure clip, but if you do choose to buy one, please don't put it on your keyring - keep it in your bag!

Looks good and works!
We bought these USB memory stick to give to clients after an event.

We run a Photo Booth Rental business []

The USB look good and certainly have the 'wow' factor.

It takes us about 30mins to download 500ish 3mb size photos, which we feel is ok.

At weddings Brides love the USbs and we will continue to buy more of them for this purpose.

The USB are solid and well built.

WD Elements 3TB External Desktop Hard Drive USB 2.0 - Black

WD Elements 3TB External Desktop Hard Drive USB 2.0 - Black

Does what's needed
I've already got two of the 1TB versions of this, but having just moved to Mac machines, the 1TB were not large enough for Time Machine to backup the system and my files. So I simply purchased the 3TB version without worrying about other brands.

Very happy with the unit, was able to format to Mac OS Extended easily and copy the data over and Time Machine has been backing up without issue now fine.

Small, quite, reasonable speed, more than happy.

Should not I've never used these for live data, just transferring data between machines or backups where the speed was not critical. When these things have occurred I've been happy with the speed, but couldn't comment on how well they handle when you're working off files stored on the units. Don't see why it should be much of an issue though.

Excellent value...
I've had this for approx 2 months now & I'm quite impressed. I have hammered it with storage of video & software files (I've only got 40gb free space left) & not had any problems, it's as fast at transfers as any other USB2 drive I have used. It's a little bulky & heavier than the non powered portable drives but hey, it is a 3 Terabyte drive after all. You just can't get that size of storage in a smaller portable drive. All in all very good value, I'd definitely buy another one.

WD Elements 3TB External Desktop Hard Drive USB 2.0 - Black

Faulty drive
After working for 10 days the drive stopped loading on the computer, It isn't visible on any level even in Disk Utilities.

I waited for 2 months for this item to be available on amazon, its frustrating the drive has failed so quickly. I'm currently waiting for amazon to restock the drives so i can get a replacement.

I guess the only true way of ensuring your backups are safe is to buy multiple drives.

LUPO SDHC & SD Memory Card Reader (Supports Windows & Mac)

LUPO SDHC & SD Memory Card Reader (Supports Windows & Mac)

Great Product
I purchased this item with the thinking that at the price it was I wasn't losing a lot if it didn't work. I received the item very quickly after ordering. It worked brilliantly with a 8Gb SDHC card that I purchased it for but also worked well with smaller capacity cards. It does say on the product that it supports Windows from 98SE onwards and Mac OS 9.0. But I can also comfirm that it works on Linux which is the OS that I use. If you want a small SD/SDHC Reader/Writer you cannot go far wrong with one of these.

LUPO SDHC & SD Memory Card Reader (Supports Windows & Mac)

Does exactly what it should
This item does exactly what it says it can, i bought it to use with a 16gb SDHC card and with the first time of using it I have had no problems, the red light indicator to tell you when the SD card is in place and is processing is also great to have on an item like this, overall a great item at a great price !

LUPO SDHC & SD Memory Card Reader (Supports Windows & Mac)

Great little gadget...
I bought one of these to enable my wife to transfer photos and videos from our digital camera to her windows 7 PC.
The packaging itself doesn't state that the reader supports Win 7 but it does...Win 7 detected it without any problems.
A good sturdy design and good service from the supplier.

QNAP TS-210 4TB 2 Bay Turbo All-in-one NAS Server with iSCSI, iPhone Streaming, iTunes Server & Media Server

Outstanding and easy
This was a good investment. It was easy to set up, and easy to explore and start using the advanced features. I'm using a single Samsung Spinpoint EcoGreen F2 1.5TB SATA II 3.5-Inch Hard Drive (32MB Cache, 5400 RPM, 3 Year Warranty, OEM) inside - no glitches. Streaming with the UPnP server to Archos 7 160GB Internet Media Tablet WiFi 7",High Resolution Touch Screen 800x480 pixels, convenient leg stand. for perfect TV viewing and XBMC open source software for PC viewing. Comes with built-in joys like web server (and php) and mysql, but hosting Tomcat on this model is not possible, sadly. Would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for an easy entry in to the world of digitising the home entertainment experience, or wanting to back up valuable photos, home movies, or even those who want to cheaply host a personal blog site themselves,...

QNAP TS-210 4TB 2 Bay Turbo All-in-one NAS Server with iSCSI, iPhone Streaming, iTunes Server & Media Server

Great product
I bought the TS210 after returning a Netgear Ready NAS due to numerous issues.. terrible product .
The TS210 is however a great product, easy to set up and use. I have 2 Macs and a PC each works seamlessly with the NAS. Time machine for Mac works at first attempt.
It took me a couple of hours to set up and understand how the interface works, but after this just a breeze. I configured the two drives for separate access rather than RAID due the way I want to back up large video files for long term storage.

QNAP TS-210 4TB 2 Bay Turbo All-in-one NAS Server with iSCSI, iPhone Streaming, iTunes Server & Media Server

Most excellent NAS device, good range of features
QNAP TS-210: I have had this device running for just over 5 months now and happy to report I am extremely impressed with this device. I had my initial reservations and it was only one option among others such as drobo, synology etc. In the end I plumped for this based on the range of features it offered for the price against many reviews - there was a lot of mixed reviews for this device, but slightly more positive than the other devices i was looking at. One of the things I did do though before buying the unit was to go to the QNAP website where it lists all compatible drives for each nas model. They also list notes for drives it may have issues for.

Having scanned the list for drives that didn't have any issues or notes against them and specifically searched for those drives to purchase, I ended up buying two 1.5 tb samsung HD154UI (F2's i think). Don't make a mistake of just buying any old hard drive to use with the nas box, and check to see if your hard drives has...
