Lexar 16GB 45MB/s Jumpdrive S73 USB 3.0 Flash Drive Memory Stick

Great speed and size but..
it's cheap for a reason and that reason is quality.

If you rely on a flashdrive to hold important files (professional use), it's a no no. If you want a big, fast stick for simple day-to-day stuff, it's a yes yes.

It's a small circuit board protected by something that compared to a Pez dispenser. You have been warned!

A dud - Worked once and then DEAD
The Lexar 32gb S73 USB 3.0 flash drive was recognised once my PC and after that dead. DEAD I tells you.

As I was about to copy some files across it, it disappeared from my drive list. Then it never came back even after removing and re-inserting few times. Nothing, Nada, Zilch.

Also, it was extremely hot (finger burning) when removed from the usb port.

This is my first foray into Lexar products. I will keep away from them from now onwards.

For now, will stick to my SanDisk, which is still working fine after 3 years.

A cheap and cheerful memory stick that does the job eficiently enough
Lexar's 16GB USB 3.0 memory stick is one of those efficient models that does the job without breaking new ground or setting new records. Offering decent but not exceptional read and rewrite speeds and is backwards compatible, as Sid Nuncius notes, it looks rather like a toy boat but despite feeling a tad less sturdy than you'd like it's a practical retractable design even if the lack of a cap means there's still the possibility of getting dirt or dust inside it if you don't use it that often. The lack of a lanyard (although a place to atach one is present) may also be an issue for many, and it's been a variable performer if you're planning to use it to watch content through your TV. There are certainly better and faster memory sticks on the market, but it's decent enough for the less demanding user.
