So Easy! Plug in and go
I am a graphic designer so natuarally I produce a lot of work. I currently use a iMac G5 with 250gb hard disk space but it is hardly enough as I have a habit of saving everything. I also wanted a external hard drive for backing up files incase the worst should happen.

I, like yourself, read the reviews from others for this item and read ones for other hard drives. I reviewed many other hard drives some with more space i.e. 500GB and some with less, the prices varied but their reviews were less than convincing. If I am correct, the Western Digital 320GB still retains its 5 star rating. This is telling you something!

When received, I connected the cables and pluged into my iMac and immediately, the device appeared on my desktop- easy easy easy.

Although the Western states 320GB it is in actual fact about 300GB, because of pre-loaded software but obviously this is the same with all of them.

If you also have a laptop like myself, you could...

Cool in more ways than one
This drive has been running now for around five months on my PC. It works OK straight out of the box, but it is worth the time reformatting it as NTFS if you have XP. I was surprised how quiet is was - I don't even notice it's there. Despite being dropped twice it still works fine. I've almost filled it with photos and video and it's time to look for a new drive - I'd definitely buy another one of these.

Western Digital Does it Again!
I've had this hard drive for about 3 months and it works like a charm. Automatic on & off function is perfect for a hardcore user as you don't have to disconnect the drive manually. I've found it to be more quiet than most of the other brands as well. Converting the file system to NTFS is recommendable as the drive comes as a FAT32. Great value for money. Just go for it!
