Troublesome power switch
I've owned many external hard disk drives over the years (Seagate, LaCie, Iomega, Medion, Western Digital, etc.)

I have just one complaint about the Verbatim product (I own two of them).

The troublesome power switch on the back of the drive - unique in design to this make of HDD.

It's not a normal user-friendly rocker switch, but instead a horrible push-button.

So every time I want to use the drive I have to push the button on the back of the drive - can't leave it in a switched on position like other makes of HDD.

What's worse it sometimes takes two, three or four pushes of the push button to get the drive switched on (one, two or three pushes doesn't always work).

Until this design flaw is removed I will NOT be buying any more Verbatim external Hard Disk Drives.

Bottom line: if do NOT buy this drive unless:-
(1) You have it somewhere where you can reach the back of the drive easily to switch it on...

Can't knock it,
The 1TB drive is perfect for backups. Quiet and unobtrusive it sits on my desk and does what it was bought for. For the money I don't think you can complain.

Easy to set up, formatting was quick and has a quick transfer rate.It's reliable,looks really nice,reasonably priced,it's quiet and runs smoothly.
